The Rocky Mountain RoughRiders 13U AAA and the Colorado Thunderbirds 13U AAA faced off at the Ice Ranch on Thursday night to do battle in the opening games of the 2017 Avalanche NHL Youth Cup Qualifier.
The high powered offense of the Thunderbirds took no time to get going, as Cael Dolph (3G, 2A) scored the games first two goals in 1:15 to give them the early 2-0 lead. The Tbirds would continue the onslaught with four more goals in the first period to extend their lead to 6-1 going into the second period, led by Dylan Zukosky (1G, 2A), Dolph's third for the hat trick, and Ivan Roudakov (1G, 1A).
The second and third periods would hold more of the same, as the Thunderbirds would add three more scores over the next two periods, with Beau Courtney (1G, 1A) and Jackson Bryant (1G, 1A) adding to the scoring column and Borya Valis (4A) and Ethan Beyer (2A) providing multiple helpers to guide the Tbirds to a convincing 9-1 victory.
