The 2017 Labor Day Pioneer Classic 15U AAA championship would be decided at Joy Burns on Monday afternoon, as the Colorado Rampage faced off with the Rocky Mountain RoughRiders to decide who would hoist the title banner.
Ryan Larese (2G) gave the RoughRiders the early momentum with the only goal of the first period to put them up 1-0 going into the second. The Rampage tied things up just over six minutes into the second period thanks to a power play goal from John Dixon, but the Riders answered back less than one minute later with another Larese score to give them a 2-1 lead heading into the third.
From there the RoughRiders would take control when Andrew Burcham gave them a two goal cushion on a goal just 1:51 into the final period. Erik Brink added an empty netter and goalie Nicholas Junkin (27 SV, 1 GA, .964 SV%) made 27 saves to shut the door on the Rampage, leading the Riders to a 4-1 championship win.
