The Twisted Wrister host Regis Jesuit Raiders are your 2017 Tier I champions with a hard fought 4-3 victory over Evolution U16 AAA at the Ice Ranch on Monday.

Regis Tier I vs. Evolution U16 AAA

#12 Anders Erickson scores on the power play to give Regis a 3-1 lead with 37 seconds remaining in the second period.

The Regis Jesuit Raiders and the Evolution U16 AAA got together to decide who would be top dog, as the two top seeds in the 2017 Twisted Wrister tournament met in the Tier I championship game at the Ice Ranch on Monday.

After a scoreless first period, the Raiders would be the first to light the lamp thanks to a goal from Rowan Barnes (2G) to put them up 1-0 just over six minutes into the second.  Evo would bounce back with a power play score from Quinn Connolly to tie it at 1-1, but Regis countered with another goal by Barnes followed minutes later by Andres Erickson on the power play to put them in front 3-1 going into the third period.

The tournaments leading scorer Sergei Alkhimov (14G, 10A, 24 PTS) would cut the lead to one just under two minutes into the third, but William Desmond answered with a score less than two minutes later to put Regis back up two at 4-2.  Austin Floyd (1G, 1A) once again narrowed the margin to one goal midway through the final period, but that would be as close as Evo would come as Regis held on to pull out the 4-3 championship victory.

#19 Rowan Barnes nets his second goal of the second period to put Regis ahead 2-1.

#24 Quinn Connolly gets credit for this sharp angle score to tie the game at 1-1 in the second period.
