The Rocky Mountain RoughRiders U15 AAA took on the New Mexico Roadrunners 16U A at Magness Arena on Sunday night in the Division I semifinals of the DU Junior Pioneers Labor Day Classic to determine who would move on to play in Monday morning's title game.
The RoughRiders came out smoking, with three first period goals to set the tempo. Zachary Anderson (2G) and Nolan Parrish (1G, 1A) provided a spark on offense, while Nathan Cote (2A) dished out a couple of assists to give the Riders all the cushion they would need.
A lone goal in the second and two more in the third would lead the RoughRiders to a convincing 6-1 win over New Mexico. The Riders dominated play by out shooting the Roadrunners 37 to 5 to help propel them into Monday's championship game.
