Chatfield goaltender #35 Kenneth Reisbeck with the denial at the doorstep.
The Steamboat Springs Sailors (10-4-2) once again found themselves traveling to the Edge in Denver for the second weekend in a row, this time for a Friday night showdown against Pinnacle Conference foe the Chatfield Chargers (1-13-1).
The Sailors didn't waste any time making themselves comfortable, as Andrew Mitchell (1G, 3A) got them on the board just 40 seconds into the game to make it 1-0. Chatfield's Jakob Michaud would answer back on the power play just moments before the end of the period to tie it up at 1-1 at the end of the first.
Things changed drastically in the second period, when Steamboat went full steam ahead by scoring six straight goals in the span of 10:26. Cameron Colombo (3G, 2A) decided to take matters into his own hands by scoring a hat trick in the second period alone, including two power play goals less than four minutes apart to help the Sailors build a 7-1 lead going into the third period.
#19 Kayden Dormer goes five hole on the penalty shot to start the third period for the Chatfield Chargers.
Chatfield came out for the final period with some fire, when Kayden Dormer would score the first goal of the third on a penalty shot to close the gap to 7-2, but Jonathan Kaminski (1G, 1A) answered back and David LaPointe (2G, 1A) scored his second goal of the game to help Steamboat set sail with a 10-2 victory.
#6 Jonathan Kaminski scores to give Steamboat a 8-2 lead late in the third period.
