The #9 Dakota Ridge Eagles (8-5-1) wanted to send their nine seniors off with a win on Senior night versus visiting #4 Monarch (9-4-2) on Friday night at the Edge, but the Coyotes had plans to put a damper on that evening and escape with a road win to help bolster their resume before the Colorado state playoffs begin.

Monarch struck first with a goal by Buck Guthrie less than one minute into the game to give them an early 1-0.  They would extend that lead to 2-0 when Leo Felt was able to flip a pass in front of the net while falling into the end boards to wide open teammate Oliver Diasabeygunawardena for a score on an excellent hustle play.  Dakota Ridge's Lucas Shubert would get one back for the Eagles just over one minute later to close the gap to 2-1 at the end of the first.

#81 Buck Guthrie backhands this one into the net to give Monarch a 1-0 lead just moments into the first period.

After a quiet start to the second period, the action would intensify over the remaining minutes as Eagles' Senior Charles Huang (2G) would even things up at 2-2 on a short handed breakaway.  Monarch's Connor Akerson would then answer right back on the same power play less than 45 seconds later to give the Coyotes the lead back at 3-2.

#13 Charles Huang gets a three for one on the short handed break away to tie things up at 2-2.

Not to be outdone, Dakota Ridge's Charles Huang would once again bring the Eagles back with a game tying goal minutes before the end of the second period.  Huang lifted a shot that glanced off of the blocker of Monarch goaltender Logan Gorbitz and into the net to tie the game up again at 3-3 going into the final period.

Neither team wanted to budge or give the other any opportunities going into the third, until just about midway through the period when Monarch's Sal Pisciola found some space on a short side snipe job for the game winner to give the Coyotes a 4-3 victory.

#13 Charles Huang scores his second goal of the game in the second period to tie the game at 3-3.
